Guides
Getting started
Is Teca free?
Yes, for the first 1,000 members. No ads, no in-app purchases.
What can I use it on?
An iPhone on iOS 16 or later. There's no iPad, Android or web version yet.
How do I install it?
Get Teca from the App Store on your iPhone, then tap Get. Updates arrive through the App Store.
Do I need an account?
Not to browse or search: tap Continue as guest. To scan, save records, play previews or connect Discogs and Apple Music, sign in with Apple.
Adding records
How do I add records?
Scan the front or back of a sleeve or the record's label, search by artist or title, or import from Discogs. Each record goes to your collection, your wantlist or a crate.
What happens to my sleeve photos?
Teca uses each photo only to identify the record and help you pick the pressing. Photos aren't kept.
What if a scan doesn't find my record?
Search by artist or title instead. Sleeves with little or no text are the hardest to scan.
Can I bring my Discogs collection?
Yes. Sign in on Discogs or enter your username, and your collection and wantlist come across, with folders as crates. Nothing changes on Discogs. To disconnect, remove Teca in your Discogs settings.
Teca picked the wrong pressing. How do I fix it?
Open the record and tap Change pressing. To tell reissues apart, check the runout, the code etched near the label: find your pressing by its runout.
Your collection
What's a crate?
Records grouped your way: a shelf, a genre, tonight's bag. Flip through a crate in 3D, sleeve by sleeve, or stand it in your room with AR on supported iPhones. 3D crates are in beta.
How does the wantlist help in a shop?
It's your hunting list, with the lowest Discogs asking price beside each record when copies are listed. Tap a record's heart to add it.
Does Teca show what my records are worth?
Not as a collection total. Each record shows its lowest asking price on Discogs and how many copies are for sale, as a guide.
What if I lose my phone, or have no signal?
Your collection lives in your account, so it's there when you sign in on a new iPhone. A copy stays on your phone, so you can browse it offline. Want a file of everything? Email us and we'll send one.
Music and DJ sets
What do Apple Music and Spotify add?
Connect Apple Music (subscription needed) and Teca suggests records from your library, playlists and recent plays. Nothing is added until you say so. Spotify is by request for now; ask in the app. Disconnect either in Account.
Can I listen in Teca?
Yes. Sign in to hear 30-second previews where available, or open the album in your streaming app.
Is Teca useful for DJs?
Yes. In setlists (beta) you build a set from records you own, and Teca estimates each track's BPM and key, marked ≈.
Privacy and your account
Is my data private?
We never sell or rent your data, and there are no ads or ad trackers. To fix and improve Teca we collect usage data, like searches, records added and crashes, tied to your account when you're signed in. There's no switch for it in the app; email us to delete yours. The Privacy Policy lists everything.
How do I delete my account?
Open Account, tap Delete account and confirm. Your collection, wantlist, crates and setlists are removed, you're signed out everywhere, and we ask Apple to revoke Teca's sign-in. We keep an archive for up to 30 days in case you ask us to undo it, then delete it for good.
Prefer email? Write to 32_false.ascot@icloud.com from the address on your account and we'll do it within 24 hours.
How do I report a bug?
Tap Report issue at the top of this page. Say what you did, what happened instead, and your iPhone model and iOS version. You can add a screenshot by email.
What's next, and can I suggest something?
More is on the way. Tell us what you want most with Share feedback, here or in the app under Account.
